etween 2001 and 2004, the American Camp Association conducted research with more than 5000 families from 80 ACA-Accredited camps to determine the outcomes of the camp experience as expressed by parents and children. This study only confirmed Jack Cheley's beliefs and dedication to the importance of a summer camp experience for all children.

This 21st-Century study confirmed that parents, camp staff, and children reported significant growth as a result of a summer camp experience in the following areas:

Self-esteem
Peer relationships
Independence
Adventure and exploration
Leadership
Environmental awareness
Friendship skills
Values and decisions
Social comfort
Spirituality
The John Austin Cheley Foundation continues its work to make a summer camp experience available to as many deserving children as possible, as a result of Jack Cheley's dedication to its impact on the lives of young people.
